Flu Vaccination – Keep Calm and Carry On
You may have heard or seen that the flu vaccination will now be made available to a wider cohort of patients.
This includes, 50-64 year olds (with or without a pre-existing condition) and people in the shielding category and their households.
GP practices, and networks are working together to make arrangements to meet the new demand, and are awaiting guidance on new national vaccine supply. In the meantime, practices will be using their pre-ordered vaccine stock to vaccinate people who were in the previous eligible categories.
Please bear with us while we aim to get as many people as possible vaccinated.

Flu Jab Scam
Please be aware a mid-Essex patient was targeted by a telephone fraud regarding administering their flu jab. The scam involves the criminal telephoning an elderly patient to claim their practice cannot administer their flu jab. The patient is told they will have to attend a different venue that uses ‘a different type of needle’ for which there is a small charge. The criminal then asks for bank details to take this charge – and removes a large sum from the patient’s account.
NHS England and the CCG’s Local Counter Fraud Specialist have been notified and Mid Essex CCG will be putting out social media posts over the weekend to warn people that NHS professionals are very unlikely to ask for any sort of payment by phone.
