The public can really help the NHS to deliver our vaccination programmes effectively to those who need it most. Taking these simple steps will help us to help you.

  • The NHS will contact you when it’s the right time to come forward, so please don’t contact us to seek a vaccine before then.
  • Please act on your invitation when it arrives, and make sure you attend your appointments when you arrange them.
  • In the meantime, please continue to abide by all the social distancing and hand hygiene guidance, which will still save lives.

Flu Vaccination – Keep Calm and Carry On

You may have heard or seen that the flu vaccination will now be made available to a wider cohort of patients.

This includes, 50-64 year olds (with or without a pre-existing condition) and people in the shielding category and their households.

GP practices, and networks are working together to make arrangements to meet the new demand, and are awaiting guidance on new national vaccine supply. In the meantime, practices will be using their pre-ordered vaccine stock to vaccinate people who were in the previous eligible categories.

Please bear with us while we aim to get as many people as possible vaccinated.

Immunisation helps to protect you from disease

During a pandemic it's more important than ever to keep up with infant, child and adult immunisations to prevent outbreaks of other diseases. Make an appointment with your GP practice, and make sure you and your children are protected.

Vaccination appointments count as an important medical reason to leave your home.

Make sure you and your baby are protected

Pregnant women need to have their whooping cough vaccination. You can have it at your GP practice from week 16 of your pregnancy. Planned appointments help to keep vulnerable pregnant mums safe from COVID-19.

The Practice will not provide Medical Certificates

The way you order your medication is changing as from the 31st March 2020 you will no longer be able to order your repeat prescriptions from your local pharmacy. Please speak to a member of the Dispensary Team for further information

Our practice is collaborating with NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) which is providing NHS numbers for those patients that may be suitable for electronic repeat dispensing prescriptions. The information is obtained from NHS prescriptions submitted to the NHSBSA. A member of our clinical team will contact these patients soon to explain the benefits of this service

Flu Jab Scam

Please be aware a mid-Essex patient was targeted by a telephone fraud regarding administering their flu jab. The scam involves the criminal telephoning an elderly patient to claim their practice cannot administer their flu jab. The patient is told they will have to attend a different venue that uses ‘a different type of needle’ for which there is a small charge. The criminal then asks for bank details to take this charge – and removes a large sum from the patient’s account.

NHS England and the CCG’s Local Counter Fraud Specialist have been notified and Mid Essex CCG will be putting out social media posts over the weekend to warn people that NHS professionals are very unlikely to ask for any sort of payment by phone.

GP and nurse appointments are now available in your area during the evenings and at the weekend.

To book an appointment, contact your practice. For more information, visit bit.ly/ExtendedAccess
